Compare the coverage of Mammatus’s published model datasets before opening a map. The table is based on their numerical grid footprints and regional domains; a “global” catalog label alone does not establish coverage.
Global models can cover the islands even when a high-resolution CONUS model cannot. RRFS–Alaska is a separate regional dataset. Canadian HRDPS has a regional numerical grid despite its catalog’s global label. Some models cover only part of a broader continental view. Product masks and missing values still apply inside the grid.

GLOBAL GUIDANCE
A broader forecast pattern
GFS, ECMWF IFS, ICON, and Canadian GDPS provide global model fields in the catalog. Use a matching parameter and valid time to compare their scenarios. A global footprint does not mean every product is present in every run.
HRRR, RRFS, HRDPS, and the REFS members represent regional grids. Choose the actual area of interest before comparing detail. A regional model should not be stretched into a map outside its published footprint.
AIFS and AIGFS are cataloged as AI models; GEFS is an ensemble product. An individual REFS member is not an ensemble mean. Read the selected product’s definition before treating its values as an average, probability, or complete range of outcomes.
NBM, WPC guidance, and Ocean SST are not interchangeable with an individual atmospheric model run. Ocean SST describes a different quantity from 2 m air temperature. The viewer’s parameter, units, and valid period establish what a field actually says.
